If you are highly motivated college undergrad who struggles with coursework, organizational skills, or study skills, I can help. I specialize in working with community college students and university students who are looking for an individualized approach to learning study skills and subject matter. I also excel in helping adult re-entry students to adjust to the college setting for the first time, in addition to helping them cultivate the study habits and subject matter mastery that will serve them well in the classroom. What I have found in five years of tutoring college undergraduates is that the majority of my students aren't really struggling with specific course material; they are struggling with study skills and time management/organizational skills in most cases. I work with college students with ADD/ADHD and learning disabilities. For students with excellent study skills who do struggle with a specific course, I offer an individualized approach to teaching the subject matter that is geared toward your specific learning style. I shy away from the "one size fits all" approach because every student is unique, as are their academic goals, personal circumstances and available resources. I tutor all my students in a public space such as the campus library, a public library or coffee shop. While I don't have Ivy League credentials, I offer a real-world and grounded approach to learning. I was a teaching assistant at both Orange Coast College and Cal State Long Beach for some of the toughest professors in their department. I offered one-on-one assistance to both struggling students and those who wanted to stay at the top of the class. I facilitated small group discussions, essay and term paper reviews, and assisted in grading essay exams and term papers. In other words, I know what professors look for in evaluating student papers and essay exams, and we can work together in bringing your coursework up to speed.
